**UPDATE: The Giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to Sonya for winning!!**
What’s better than Valentine’s Day? Galentine’s Day, of course! I’ve had the idea to make some of my friends’ daughters some cute dresses on my list of things to do for several months now. I decided I was finally going to make it happen in 2018 and the idea to turn it into something bigger struck as I was watching through Parks and Rec for the eighth time. Hence, the Galentine’s Day post and a giveaway!
As Leslie Knope puts it, Galentine’s Day is about “ladies celebrating ladies.” Without being too sentimental, these ladies are a big part of Nick’s and my lives, as are their families. I’ve mentioned before that sewing for others can be incredibly stressful for me, but I truly enjoyed making these dresses knowing just how excited each of the girls were about their custom dresses. Brace yourself for cuteness overload.
When I was initially thinking about sewing something for them I had been thinking about sewing up the Chalk and Notch Cascade Maxi dress, but considering I imposed a pretty tight deadline on myself I realized I needed to use a pattern that I could easily make four of in a short time frame. Enter, the Waterfall Raglan! This was the perfect pattern for this project because I was able to sew them fairly quickly primarily using the serger.
All of the fabric was purchased from Harts Fabrics. They have such a great selection to choose from that are perfect for the Waterfall Raglan (the women’s version, too!). Seeing their personalities shine through in the fabrics they picked was a complete delight. The octopi fabric and arrow fabric are both Cotton and Steel, while the cats and flowers are Art Gallery. Both manufacturers make high quality knits that are incredibly easy to sew with.
The day we took pictures was one the warmer days in the midst of a long cold snap (long for Houston), so it worked out so well that most of them were short sleeves. These dresses will work well into the summer and fall months, too!
Probably the best part of taking theses pictures was asking the younger ones to pose because you got some great results. All four of these girls are a hoot!
To extend the fun of Galentine’s Day, I’ve teamed up with Gabriela of Chalk and Notch and Dana of Harts Fabrics. They are two awesome ladies who were incredibly generous to sponsor the giveaway with a $25 gift card to the Chalk and Notch shop and a $25 gift card to the Harts Fabric shop! How awesome is that?!
The giveaway will begin today, February 13, 2018, and run one week through February 20, 2018. I will announce the winner sometime on February 21, 2018 here on my blog and on my Instagram. To enter, use the Rafflecopter link below and go follow Dana, Gabriela and myself on Instagram! One random person will be the winner of both prizes! This giveaway is in no way sponsored by Instagram or WordPress.
Now, I’ve had tons of issues getting the Rafflecopter widget to work (shoutout to Lara for being awesome and helping me figure out the issue!) so you’ll have to click the Galentine’s icon below to get to the giveaway. It’s one more step, but I think the prizes are definitely worth it, right?!
HUGE thanks to Front Paige Photography for the amazing pictures!
