Sew Caroline | Molly Dress Pattern Test

Things have been a bit quiet on the blog/Instagram lately due to work and life being more hectic than usual, but I’m excited to share the Molly Dress which is part of the Sew Caroline + Simple Life Pattern Company collaboration!

Simple Life Pattern Company has some seriously adorable girls patterns that run from New Born size to size 12.  Sew Caroline features fashionable women’s patterns of which I’m a HUGE fan.  Sew Caroline and Katie of SLPCo teamed up to size up a few of Katie’s most popular patterns (Molly, Tammy, and Ayda) and to size down a few of Caroline’s most popular patterns (Sugar Pop Top, Magnolia Shorts, and Waterfall Tank) to create a six pattern collection for some precious Mommy-and-Me looks (or just some new women’s patterns if you don’t have children to sew for, like me)! I have seen my fair share of children’s patterns that I just wished would be in my size and now Caroline and Katie has made that a reality!

The Molly dress features a loose-fitting lined bodice with a deep, scoop back, an optional collar, optional faux-pin tucks,  three skirt lengths (top, knee, maxi) and two skirt styles (gathered or circle).  That’s a lot of options! This dress is a great multi-seasonal addition to your wardrobe, as are so many of Caroline’s and Katie’s patterns.

For my version, I decided to keep things simple with a knee-length gathered dress using some seersucker I picked up in Dallas last year.  It’s a piece that I can easily dress up or down depending upon the occasion and it will also work well into the fall months paired with a sweater.  This is a size small bodice with a medium skirt.

The back of the dress features three buttons, which I think is a sweet addition to the dress.  I think I’ve said this before, but I usually don’t wear things that show off much of my back.  However, sewing has really helped me branch out in trying new styles that I wouldn’t normally pick out in RTW.  These buttons are also from Dallas.  Now that I think about it, they very well may have been from the same place! I feel like I’ve been using up a lot of my fabric and buttons from that trip, which only makes want to make another trip soon.

Here’s a close up of the button back:

This dress has already been the perfect outfit for a bridal shower and a baby shower and I’ve received so many compliments on it! You better believe it’ll be on continuous rotation in my wardrobe!
